Minimum Qualifications

McDowell Technical Community College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) Faculty/Coordinator to support and guide students pursuing careers in education through Residency Licensure. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, and hold a Master’s in Education, possess a valid North Carolina teaching license, and have a minimum of ten years of experience in a P-12 setting. Strong organizational, communication, and technology skills are essential. The EPP Coordinator will work closely with students, faculty, and K-12 partners to coordinate field placements, provide licensure guidance, manage program data, and ensure alignment with state requirements. A passion for mentoring future educators and a commitment to equity and student success are essential to this role.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in residency licensure pathways, edTPA support, and familiarity with North Carolina educator preparation standards.

Position Description

*Please note this is a grant-funded position. This new faculty position is initially funded by a three-year grant award and contingent on funding. The grant is meant to help increase enrollment in early childhood education at MTCC and to enhance the program’s capacity to achieve greater levels of equitable access and student success to strengthen the early childcare teacher workforce.

General Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education and the Dean of Curriculum Programs and in accordance with the overall plan of the College, the curriculum faculty, provide effective learning conditions for all students through the design, planning, organization, execution, and evaluation of student performance in assigned areas, curriculum courses, classes or programs.

Specific Responsibilities

1.     Instruct and teach assigned courses in accordance with the faculty load policy and procedures. This includes preparing and delivering course content, maintaining accurate records of student performance, assessing student-learning outcomes, and providing timely feedback, while adhering to departmental and institutional standards.

2.     Arrange and oversee field experiences and student teaching placements in partnership with local school districts, ensuring alignment with licensure requirements.

3.     Provide academic advising and licensure guidance to students pursuing careers in education, including traditional, and residency licensure pathways.

4.     Assist students in navigating the edTPA process, including organizing support sessions, reviewing components, and coordinating video recording needs.

5.     Serve as a liaison between the college, K–12 school partners, and university transfer programs to support seamless transitions and program alignment.

6.     Stay up to date with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) requirements and ensure students meet current educator licensure standards.

7.     Plan and implement training sessions, workshops, and seminars for students and mentor teachers related to teaching best practices and licensure preparation.

8.     Maintain accurate records of student progress, clinical hours, and licensure documentation; assist with data reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

9.     Communicate regularly with students, faculty, and school-based mentors; develop materials to inform and engage stakeholders about EPP initiatives.

10.   Support grant-funded projects (such as teacher pipeline or residency programs) by tracking deliverables, participating in planning meetings, and ensuring compliance.

11.   Advocate for inclusive practices and support efforts to recruit and retain candidates in teacher preparation programs.

12.   Actively participate in professional development activities related to respective disciplines for personal growth development including membership in professional organizations.

13.   Actively recruit students by participating (as schedule permits) in recruiting functions on and off campus.

14.   Implement all policies as established by the Board of Trustees.

15.   Other duties as assigned.
