Position Description

DEFINITION:
The Coordinator of International Student Services and Latino Outreach will oversee and implement international and Hispanic/Latino student enrollment initiatives and functions, including recruitment and retention. Primary duties include but are not limited to, serving as the primary contact person for prospective and current Hispanic/Latino students, international students (including F-1 status), overseeing and participating in student outreach events and activities, on-campus programming, assisting students with navigating the enrollment process, and providing referrals to campus and community resources.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Dean of Enrollment Services.
- Exercises no supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the International Center, plan campus programming, support services for students, and community engagement. Work closely with faculty assigned to the International Center for Center coverage, support, and programming.
- Serves as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) overseeing international student services for the college.
- Maintain and oversee international student records and procedures, including the recertification process with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), processes for international, DACA, and undocumented students in accordance with the North Carolina Community College System, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).
- Responsible for overseeing Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant (F-1) Student Status (1-20) in the Student & Exchange Visitor Immigration System (SEVIS) in an accurate and timely manner, and advise international students regarding admission eligibly and status adjustments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a recruitment plan and strategies to recruit and retain international and Hispanic/Latino students.
- Organize, schedule, and conduct outreach and recruitment programs and activities throughout the year on a variety of topics to meet identified needs and opportunities at K-12 schools, community agencies, and on and off campus sites. This could include DACA and immigration information sessions, community celebrations, and other relevant programs.
- Build and foster relationships and make connections with Hispanic/Latino communities.
- Collaborate with campus stakeholders who serve international and Hispanic/Latino students to foster a positive climate that leads to educational equity.
- Assist the Coordinator, Diversity Success in designing, developing and implementing innovative outreach programs using diversity and inclusion best practice in support of CFCC’s strategic initiatives.
- Serve as an advocate to effectively monitor and assess the enrollment processes and on-campus experiences of international and Hispanic/Latino students.
- Interact with and develop partnerships with community groups, businesses, state and local agencies to reach potential students for outreach and enhance college, K-12, and business relationships.
- Stay abreast of changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new programs, course changes, deadlines, important dates, costs, etc.
- Stay abreast of demographic and other factors impacting the Hispanic/Latino communities on the local, state, and national level.
- Provide mentoring and supports to Hispanic/Latino students’ academic and personal success.
- Refer students to the appropriate specialized staff for comprehensive counseling, financial assistance, etc.
- Develop a resource hub that accurately provides information regarding educational programs, on-campus student services, and other relevant information for the Hispanic community and international students.
Other Important Functions:
- Serve on standing committees and working groups by appointment and as needed.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Knowledge of:

- General understanding of the mission of community colleges and the various types of learners that are served in a community college setting.
