Position Description
The Custodial Services Staff position is a full-time, salaried position. The staff member is part of the Physical Plant Services Division and is responsible for assisting with the general custodial services of all buildings and grounds at all campus locations, as well as room setups. The position reports to the Supervisor, Custodial Services and has the following responsibilities:
Performs necessary routine custodial services including, but not limited to:
– Emptying waste receptacles and hauling trash to the dumpster.
– Dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
– Washing windows
– Replenishing paper products and hand soap
– Cleaning white boards and marker boards, arranging classroom furniture.
– Spot cleaning walls, restroom stalls.
– Scouring and disinfection of toilets and sinks
– Cleaning and disinfections of water fountains, and restroom fixtures, countertops, desks, mirrors, blinds, drinking fountains, door handles, and handrails
– Scrubbing, buffing and stripping of floors. Spot cleaning carpets as well as hot water extraction.
– Cleaning floor mats, cobwebs, etc.
– Driving a golf cart to transport people materials and equipment.
Assists with setup/tear down of rooms, as needed
Assists with maintaining cleaning records, including MSDS sheets
Utilizes proper cleaning materials and utilizes safe work practices
Assists with college sustainability and environmentally friendly practices
Assists College delivery and messenger services, as required, between all campuses and centers
Attend department and College meetings as appropriate
Performs other duties as assigned that support College initiatives

Position Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license
Preferred:
Basic computer skills
Prior experience and skills in custodial services
Commercial custodial experience
Experience in a higher education setting
