The Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide technicaland functionalsupportfor the College’s Learning Management System (LMS), serve as the primary LMS administrator, and support faculty and instructional staff in the development and delivery of online and technology-enhanced learning. This position plays a key role in the College’s planned migration of the LMS platform from OpenLMS to Canvas in mid-2026.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Serve as the primary administrator and technical support for the College’s Learning Management System (currently OpenLMS; migrating to Canvas in mid-2026), including system configuration, user management, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Support the planning, testing, implementation, and adoption of the College’s LMS migration from OpenLMS to Canvas, including timeline support, documentation, and coordination with key stakeholders.
  • Perform LMS operational tasks, including course creation and requests, backups/restores, enrollments, LTI integration, and course maintenance.
  • Provide technical and functional support to faculty and staff related to online course delivery, instructional tools within the LMS, and associated teaching technologies.
  • As part of the Teaching & Learning team, support faculty training, course readiness, and consistent use of online course templates, tools, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve LMS-related support requests submitted through the ticketing system in a timely and professional manner, escalating issues to vendors or internal teams as needed.
  • Serve as the System Office Distance Learning contact, completing required reports, surveys, data requests, and compliance documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining online course and program records required for audits, accreditation, accessibility compliance, and instructional reporting.
  • Support accessibility and instructional compliance efforts, including administration of the accessibility platform and participation in college accessibility committees.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with College policies and procedures, NC Community College System requirements, and applicable State and Federal regulations.
  • Maintain the technical competencies and professional development necessary to support LMS administration and instructional technology needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
Associate’s degree in information systems, Web Technologies, Programming, Office System Technologies, Business Administration, or relatedfield.

Experience
Experiencesupporting faculty and staff with instructional technology systems. Experience administering a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Moodle/OpenLMS or Canvas, including course setup, enrollments, troubleshooting, and basic system configuration. Experience supporting LMS transitions or major platform changes is preferred.

Preferred-Experience with instructional technologies such as video creation/editing tools, accessibility tools, learning analytics/reporting, and student information systems such as Colleague/Informer. Experience supporting faculty training or professional development is a plus.

  • Demonstratedproficiencyusing Microsoft Office Suite orsimilar products, database systems, file transfer software, and other computer applications associated with the position.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, includingaccuratedocumentation and record maintenance.
  • Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
  • Applicantsmust have strong problem-solving, analytical, and effective communication skills via e-mail, over the phone,andin person.
  • Ability to support and communicate with faculty and staff with varying levels of technical comfort
