Minimum Qualifications

·        3 – 5 years of experience in event planning and management.
·        High School or GED degree
·        Demonstrated success in managing multiple, large-scale events simultaneously.
·        Strong organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
·        Proficiency with event management technology, scheduling platforms, and general office software.
·        Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support events.
·        Commitment to excellence, creativity, and maintaining a “best foot forward” approach.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in event management, project management, or related field.

Position Description

Job Description
The Director of Events is a full-time position primarily located at the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, NC and expected to serve at all locations of South Piedmont Community College (SPCC). Under the direction of the Vice President of Institutional Excellence, the Director of Events is responsible for collaborative planning, executing and evaluating high-quality events that support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the College and the SPCC Foundation. This role ensures that all events are well-executed and consistently reflect the highest standards of professionalism, coordination, and engagement while serving as a key connector across departments, stakeholders, donors, and the community.
Success in this role requires adaptability, problem-solving, and a focus on excellence in every detail.

Job Duties
Event Planning & Execution
·        Serve as the main point of contact for assigned events or serve as co-chair on event planning committees for larger scale events for SPCC.
·        Create a process and set the standard for how college and foundation events will look and function.
·        Develop event concepts, themes, and logistics plans that align with organizational goals.
·        Oversee venue selection, contracts, catering, décor, audiovisual needs, and all vendor relationships as necessary.
·        Coordinate event timelines, production schedules, and contingency plans.
·        Ensure compliance with college policies, budget parameters, and safety standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
·        Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to design events that support student and community engagement.
·        Serve as the primary point of contact for all SPCC event-related inquiries and coordination with internal and external partners.
Marketing & Promotion
·        Work with stakeholders to design event materials, invitations, press releases, and digital promotions as necessary.
·        Develop strategies to maximize event visibility, attendance, and impact.
·        Create post-event reports and highlight successes through storytelling and visuals as necessary.
Financial & Administrative Management
·        Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and maximizing return on investment as necessary.
·        Track expenses, invoices, and post-event reconciliation.
·        Maintain detailed records, timelines, and event databases for historical tracking and improvement.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
·        Lead event-related staff, volunteers, and student workers, providing training and guidance
·        Conduct post-event evaluations to assess effectiveness and implement improvements for future events.
·        Identify opportunities for innovative practices in event planning and engagement.
