Position Description
Job Summary
The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for implementing and administering all federal, state, and institutional programs. The Director of Financial Aid manages and oversees the distribution of student financial aid in compliance with all federal, state and institutional regulations.
** Salary will commensurate with experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Keep abreast of all Federal and State Regulations and monitor institutional compliance
Provide leadership and supervision to paraprofessional, professional, and part time clerical staff with a student-centered approach to financial aid administration
Work collaboratively with other departments on campus to achieve the college’s goals
Communicate with the campus community, prospective students, parents and the external community regarding financial aid programs and services
Related Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office
Monitor all Federal (FWS, R2T4) and State (Child Care, Scholarships) programs administered by financial aid staff
Provide financial aid counseling for students
Develop priorities and goals annually in accordance with the colleges strategic plan
Develop and oversee the Financial Aid Office budget
Complete and submit all federal (FISAP, GE, IFAP), state (NCHED-10), and institutional reports by the posted deadlines
Ensure annual award year completion of Colleagues financial aid module, including training, setup, testing, implementation, and complex Informer data extraction
Prepare reports requested by the administration
Oversee the management of the document imaging module
Supervise Assistant Financial Aid Director, Financial Aid Specialists, VA Specialist and Financial Aid Receptionist
Responsible for Policy & Procedure Updates
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Services and/or Vice President for Student Success and Academic Affairs

Qualifications/Requirements:
Understanding of and commitment to the purpose of an open-door institution
Demonstrated competence in organizational, oral and written communication skills
Experience with financial aid software. Colleague preferred
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply Federal and State regulations
Strong team-building skills
Ability to work in a congenial and professional manner with students, prospective students, faculty, staff and other community members
Strong commitment to customer service
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is required as well as five (5) years of experience working in a supervisory position in a financial aid office at a post-secondary institution of higher learning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
Scheduling:
This is a full-time position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Must be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings, during peak enrollment periods.
Travel:
Local travel is required, including between campus locations.
