Minimum Qualifications
-
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, computer science or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of successful experience in online instruction or training.
- Two (2) years demonstrated success providing services and/or support for Distance Education faculty and/or students.
- Three (3) years supervisory experience.
- Three (3) years of system administration or technical support of an LMS;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Technologies, Distance Education, Instructional Design or a comparable field with 18 graduate hours in courses related to educational technologies.
- Certified or credentialed in Distance Education program planning, design, and/or instruction.
- Experience creating multimedia content for instruction or training.
- Experience with system administrator interface of the Blackboard LMS and Canvas LMS.
- Supervisory experience of academic support staff in post-secondary education.
- Experience developing or managing Quality Matters certified courses.
Position Description
Positioned within the Academic Programs Division, the Director provides leadership for eLearning (Distance Education) and Faculty Development Services, its resources, initiatives, services, and related training at the college. This includes online operations of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the online bookstore. The Director collaborates with instructional administrators to promote best practices in instructional delivery, to meet compliance standards, to develop eLearning courses and programs, to monitor and assess quality of eLearning courses, and to support instructional design, faculty development, and training. The Director is responsible for budget management and operational reports for the unit(s) assigned, and provides direct supervision to professional and administrative support staff assigned to the unit(s). This is a 12 month, full-time position that reports to the Associate Vice-President, Academic Support.
