Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, required. 
  2. Minimum three years of supervisory experience in higher education, student affairs/services, and enrollment management or related experience, required.
  3. Experience in strategic enrollment management, process improvement, and marketing collaboration, required.
  4. Expertise in student information system and/or customer relationship management platforms, required. 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in student development, education, or related field, preferred.
  2. Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.

Position Description

Essential Functions

The Director of Strategic Enrollment Management designs and advances strategic initiatives directly related to new student recruitment and enrollment. The Director provides a data-informed strategic vision and carries out a plan for recruitment and enrollment through collaborative college and community efforts, outreach, and engagement. This role also provides the administration and coordination necessary for an effective Enrollment Management department.

  6. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and meet deadlines. 
  7. Proficiency in utilizing data and analytics to inform strategies, make evidence­ based decisions, and evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment, admissions, and enrollment practices and processes. 
  8. Ability to anticipate needs, plan, organize, execute, and function effectively under time constraints of rapidly changing priorities. 
  9. Progressive knowledge and ability to operate common technologies, mobile devices, internet platforms, and college-related software, including Office 365, student information system, and applications relevant to the role. 
  10. Commitment to creating a campus climate that values all individuals’ unique perspectives and characteristics. 
  11. Strong working knowledge of secondary and postsecondary education.
  12. Utilization of professionalism in handling confidential files/information (FERPA).
  13. Advanced supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

Strategic Enrollment Management

  1. Develop and maintain a strategic enrollment and recruitment plan with measurable goals and objectives.
  2. Partner with the Marketing Department to create innovative and targeted marketing strategies via print, mail, digital, social media, virtual, text, and in-person.
  3. Work with Academic and Student Affairs Division to design and execute effective programming that conveys the college’s academic and support opportunities to prospective students, families, and community partners.
  4. Communicate the college’s value to prospective students and their support networks, helping them envision themselves as part of the college community.
  5. Develop recruitment efforts targeting underrepresented high school and community college student populations impacted by rural access challenges, first-generation status, or socioeconomic disadvantages.
  6. Evaluate and improve the practices of the student-enrollment experience, including timely, effective, and positive engagement with students and families throughout the entirety of their enrollment experience. 

Recruitment & Enrollment

  1. Directly facilitate and oversee all processes of the enrollment funnel, from recruitment and awareness to application, admission, and enrollment, ensuring alignment with institutional goals. 
  2. Strengthen partnerships with schools, community organizations, and industry partners to support enrollment of traditional, underrepresented, and non-traditional student populations. 
  3. Work with the recruitment team to represent the college at a wide array of campus and community recruitment activities. 
  4. Utilize the college’s student information system and customer relationship management system to track prospective and current student data, personalize communication, manage recruitment events, analyze enrollment trends, and ensure optimized use throughout the enrollment process. 
  5. Lead the planning and execution of new student orientation programming and enrollment initiatives to create a well-structured transition for incoming students that also increases high-quality student engagement.

Supervision, Processing, & Compliance

  1. Supervise and provide leadership to the Enrollment Management department staff, fostering a collaborative team environment to achieve enrollment goal attainment, efficient processes, and high service excellence levels. 
  2. Serve as the college’s expert on residency and admissions requirements, processes, and procedures for student enrollment and continuation.  
  3. Fully understand the types of data entered by Enrollment Management staff in the student information system, including entry methods, rationale, and the significance of each data point in supporting Academic and Student Affairs and Business Office procedures.  
  4. Manage the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) website and online applications. 
  5. Manage the preparation and delivery of required reports to institutional departments and state agencies, adhering to all regulatory and institutional reporting standards. 
  6. Oversee data security practices and all functions of the Enrollment Management department to ensure compliance with local procedures and state and federal regulations to ensure the protection of college data, retention, and disposition.

Other

  1. Oversee the Enrollment Management and recruitment budgets and resource allocation for each. 
  2. Establish procedures for graduation marshals, train them, and oversee their roles for commencement ceremonies.
  3. Participate in college committees and professional development. 
  4. Perform other duties as assigned.
