  • Master’s degree in education, administration, or related area.

  • Experience in team leadership and employee supervision.
  • Experience with budget and resource management.
  • Demonstrated ability for practice community relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and expand academic and workforce programs, with a focus on increasing enrollment through strategic outreach and community engagement.
  • Ability to forge partnerships and cultivate collaboration across all campus locations (embracing the one college, many locations philosophy)
  • Demonstrated ability with program development and using data for continuous improvement.

Position Description

This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting directly to the Vice President of Instruction. 
 
The director oversees the daily operations of the Ashe Campus and Ashe County off-campus instructional sites, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained facilities. This position collaborates with academic divisions and Workforce Development & Community Education on program and course offerings, supports students and faculty, and works to actively build enrollment through outreach and community engagement. The director builds relationships that foster partnerships with public schools, business and industry, and represents the college in the Ashe County community. Responsibilities include managing budgets, supervising staff, and serving as the primary contact for emergencies and campus advisory activities. The director collaborates with all college divisions to support the institutional mission.
This position is located at the Ashe Campus, West Jefferson, NC.
Facilities Management:
    1. Oversees daily operations of the Ashe Campus and off-campus instructional sites.
    2. Secures and manages off-campus locations for instructional programs as needed.
    3. Collaborates with Instruction to coordinate classroom and space scheduling to ensure efficient use of facilities.
    4. Develops and implements maintenance schedules to maintain a safe, clean, and well-kept campus.
    5. Prepares and monitors county and state budgets for facilities and operations.
    6. Supervises contractual services and campus staff, including office, custodial, and maintenance teams.
    7. Coordinates facilities needs with the Vice President of Instruction or designee.
    8. Serves as the primary contact for emergencies and inclement weather at the Ashe Campus.

 

 Programming and Instruction:
  1. Proactively works to build enrollment in both curriculum programs and WDCE offerings through collaboration, outreach, marketing support, and community engagement.
  2. Coordinates inventory and maintenance of instructional equipment and facilities with the appropriate divisions.
  3. Collaborates with curriculum academic divisions and Workforce Development & Community Education (WDCE) on course scheduling; recommends qualified adjunct faculty as appropriate.
  4. Monitors existing programs at the Ashe Campus and communicates feedback, concerns, and observations to appropriate areas.
  5. Provides support to faculty, staff, students, and community members as needed.
 Instructional Support & Student Services:
  1. Collaborates with IS\&SS staff—including Advising/ACA instruction, Admissions/Recruiting, Financial Aid, Counseling, Career Services, Disability Services, Library, Resource Connections, Student Activities, and Academic Support—to ensure effective delivery of services at the Ashe Campus.
  2. Assists with the delivery of select services such as Admissions/Recruiting, Student Activities, and Resource Connections.
Public School Partnerships:
  1. Works with Ashe County Schools, the Ashe Early College High School, the Director of College Access, and academic division deans on CCP pathway planning; participates in the Ashe/Wilkes Partnership Team.
  2. Supports marketing and outreach for Ashe Campus programs in collaboration with the Director of College Access, Marketing, and school district personnel.
  3. Assists the Director of College Access, academic division deans, and school district partners in identifying additional middle and high school programming aligned with WCC career pathways.
 Community Representation
  1. Promotes the college’s mission, vision, and goals through active community engagement in Ashe County.
  2. Represents WCC by presenting to community organizations and individuals.
  3. Serves on community, regional, and state boards with the vice president’s approval.
  4. Organizes and facilitates annual Ashe Campus Advisory Committee meetings.
 Other Duties
  1. Participates in internal and external professional development activities.
  2. Serves on college committees and completes assignments as directed by the vice president.
  3. Performs additional duties as assigned by the vice president.
