Minimum Qualifications
· Associate’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited institution with the ability to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Medical Science within two (2) years of employment.
· NC Level I Paramedic Instructor certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
· NC Level II Paramedic Instructor certification or the ability to obtain within two (2) years of employment.
· Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS Instructor Certifications or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment
· Current National Association of EMT’s (NAEMT) AMLS, PHTLS ,and EVOS Instructor Certifications or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment
· Current North Carolina Paramedic Credential
· A minimum of three (3) years of field experience working in EMS
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
· Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s Degree or higher in any discipline from an accredited institution
· Current National Registry Paramedic Certification
· Current Critical Care Paramedic (CCP), Flight Paramedic (FP), or Community Paramedic (CP) Specialty Credential
· Five years of field experience working in EMS
· Previous experience with online instruction via a course management system such as Canvas
· Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
· Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments
· Evidence of a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Lead Instructor is a full-time, 12-month position located primarily on the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director, the EMS Lead Instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering didactic and laboratory education that is in accordance with the North Carolina Office of EMS, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians curriculum. This 40-hour instructional staff position is responsible for teaching in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. In addition to instructional duties, the EMS Lead EMT Instructor will provide leadership for course coordination and supervision of adjunct faculty/instructors.

Job Duties |
· Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the EMS education program
· Maintain required program documentation including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums in accordance with the policies of NCOEMS, CoAEMSP and SPCC
· Update and maintain files as requested by the Emergency Medical Services Program Director
· Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a correctional setting (Anson county) during morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend hours.
· Coordinate the selection of textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency
· Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities
· Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college
· Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
· Participate in program reviews, conduct research and surveys, and prepare updates, reports, and plans
· Assist the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director in maintaining a roster of qualified adjunct instructors for the program
· Work with the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director in recruitment, orientation, and mentoring of adjunct instructors
· Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of program and college improvement
· Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered college
· Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community
· Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
· Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation
· Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Fire/Rescue/EMS Program Director, the Dean of the School for Health and Public Services, and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer |
