Position Description
The Employment Services Specialist works collaboratively with the Director, Human Resource Services, and other staff members to achieve annual goals in serving external and internal constituents. This position is the primary point of contact for part-time employee hiring. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing a variety of daily hiring, payroll, and human resources functions. The successful candidate must be skilled in maintaining effective working relationships among a diverse population, able to provide excellent customer service, skilled in handling confidential and sensitive information and work effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities.
Greets visitors and responds to telephone and email inquiries.
Provides assistance to applicants in completing employment applications and new hire paperwork.
Ensures all newly hired part-time employees are entered into the NeoGov system for completing electronic forms.
Provides assistance to hiring supervisors on the hiring process.
Creates and maintains part-time employment contracts.
Creates and maintains spreadsheets used for payroll and hiring.
Monitors for excessive part-time employee hours in relation to the Affordable Care Act.
Responsible for making sure employment documents follow part-time pay scales and communicates issues to HR Director.
Responsible for ensuring all part-time contracts and pay rates are submitted correctly each month.
Responsible for calculating and updating pay rates on part-time employee contracts when necessary.
Provides input and feedback on human resource processes and procedures.
Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of Form I-9 and tax forms for new hires as well as all other necessary paperwork.
Collaborates closely with payroll to resolve any employment matters.
Helps ensure forms, workflows and hiring materials are updated on the HR intranet.
Participates in activities to support HR initiatives and activities.
Works collaboratively with staff members within the HR department to develop cross-training opportunities and knowledge sharing.
Maintains employee personnel files, and other necessary records, reports, databases, and resource materials pertinent to part-time hiring and employment.
Promoting innovation and technology with implementation of electronic forms, where applicable
Performs intake of part-time employees’ employment documents and processes part-time employee contracts.
Supports the Director, Human Resource Services in administrative areas of the division as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned which support the purpose and initiatives of the College.
Position Qualifications
Required:
Associate’s degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution
Two years related work experience in human resources, payroll, accounting, or related field
Excellent customer service skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Detail-oriented, organizational skills, and self-directed
Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Access and database programs
Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:

Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel to multiple sites as needed
