Job Summary
Mitchell Community College is seeking a qualified and motivated EMS Program Simulation Coordinator / Paramedic Instructor / AHA Facilitator to support the delivery of high-quality Emergency Medical Science education. This position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the EMS simulation laboratory, facilitating and managing American Heart Association (AHA) programs, and providing classroom and laboratory instruction within the EMS Program, including Paramedic and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) courses.
The Simulation Coordinator / Instructor / AHA Facilitator will work collaboratively with the EMS Program Chair, Clinical Coordinator, ALS Lead Instructor, and BLS Lead Instructor to ensure compliance with programmatic accreditation standards, maintain operational readiness of simulation and laboratory equipment, and support student success through innovative instructional methodologies and simulation-based education.
** Hiring salary will be based on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Simulation Laboratory Coordination
Coordinate daily operations of the EMS simulation laboratory and associated instructional spaces.
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure readiness of high-fidelity simulation manikins and related simulation technologies.
Develop, organize, and assist with simulation scenarios that support EMS Education National Standards and program learning outcomes.
Maintain inventory of simulation supplies, medical equipment, and consumable resources.
Order supplies, equipment, and instructional materials in accordance with departmental and college purchasing procedures.
Ensure all simulation equipment and instructional resources are properly maintained, secured, and compliant with applicable safety standards.
Assist with the integration of simulation-based learning throughout EMS courses and laboratory activities.
Instructional Responsibilities
Provide classroom, laboratory, and skills instruction in Paramedic, AEMT, and other EMS courses as assigned.
Deliver high-quality instruction utilizing evidence-based educational practices and current EMS standards.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback regarding academic and psychomotor progress.
Assist with student remediation, advising, and academic support initiatives.
Maintain instructional records, attendance, assessments, and required program documentation.
Participate in curriculum review and continuous quality improvement initiative.
American Heart Association (AHA) Facilitation and Program Management
Serve as an American Heart Association Facilitator and support the administration of AHA educational programs.
Coordinate and teach American Heart Association courses, including but not limited to:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Facilitate instructor development, course quality assurance, and compliance with American Heart Association standards and Training Center requirements.
Assist with instructor monitoring, mentoring, and course documentation processes.
Coordinate scheduling, equipment preparation, instructor assignments, and course record management for AHA programs.
Maintain required AHA records, course rosters, certification documentation, and training equipment.
Maintain current equipment and order replacement parts / new equipment.
Program and Administrative Responsibilities
Collaborate with EMS faculty and staff to support program operations and student success.
Support compliance with accreditation standards established by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
Maintain knowledge of current EMS trends, National EMS Education Standards, state regulations, and accreditation requirements.
Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, college service activities, and program recruitment events.
Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as required for instructional and programmatic needs.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Credentialed North Carolina Paramedic in good standing.
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Paramedic.
Demonstrated technical proficiency with healthcare simulation equipment and instructional technologies.
Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and manage EMS laboratory and simulation equipment.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Level I EMS Instructor credential.
Minimum of two (2) years of EMS teaching experience.
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Demonstrated experience utilizing high-fidelity simulation manikins in EMS or healthcare education.
Current American Heart Association Instructor credentials in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
American Heart Association Faculty or Facilitator experience preferred.
Knowledge of CoAEMSP accreditation standards and processes.
Knowledge of National EMS Education Standards and competency-based EMS education.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, move, and set up EMS and simulation equipment.
Ability to demonstrate and assist with psychomotor skills and patient care procedures.
Ability to stand and move throughout classroom, laboratory, and simulation environments for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and office environments. Responsibilities may require flexible scheduling, including occasional evening or weekend assignments associated with EMS instruction, simulation activities, and AHA courses.
