Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Adult Education, Human Services, or a related field.
• Experience teaching adult learners, English language learners, or diverse populations.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic educational technology.
• ESL, TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or related certification.
• Experience teaching in Adult Education, Community College, Workforce Development, or K-12 environments.
• Experience with CASAS assessments and North Carolina Adult Education accountability requirements.
• Experience using learning management systems and online instructional platforms.
• Complete the NC Adult Education Core Credential within 2 years of hire.

Salary Range: Commensurate with education

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or another language commonly spoken by students is preferred.
• National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred.

Position Description

The Part-Time English as a Second Language (ELA) Instructor provides quality instruction to adult English Language Learners (ELLs) to improve English language proficiency, workforce readiness, digital literacy, and civic engagement. The instructor is responsible for planning and delivering standards-based instruction, maintaining accurate student records, utilizing educational technology, and supporting student persistence and achievement in accordance with North Carolina Community College System Adult Education and Literacy guidelines.
