- Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business, public administration, or related field.
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.

Position Description
GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Executive Director of the Foundation serves as the chief philanthropic officer of the Brunswick Community College Foundation. This executive leadership role is responsible for advancing the Foundation’s mission by developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies that increase philanthropic support, strengthen donor engagement, and expand resources that directly impact student success and institutional priorities. The Executive Director provides strategic direction, financial oversight, and operational leadership to ensure sustainable growth of the Foundation’s annual fund, endowment, scholarships, and special initiatives.
Working in close partnership with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the President, the Foundation Board of Directors, and College leadership, the Executive Director leads efforts to secure major gifts, grow corporate and community partnerships, steward donors, and enhance the Foundation’s visibility and reputation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP & FUNDRAISING
- Develop and implement a comprehensive multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with the College’s strategic plan and institutional priorities.
- Establish measurable annual fundraising goals and performance metrics for revenue growth, donor retention, new donor acquisition, and endowment expansion.
- Lead annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsorships, capital campaigns, and special fundraising initiatives.
- Manage fundraising and donor events.
- Manage and cultivate a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors through discovery, cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship.
- Manage the Student Ambassador program
- Represent the Foundation and College in the community as a visible ambassador and advocate for philanthropic investment.
BOARD GOVERNANCE & LEADERSHIP
- Serve as primary staff liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors and its committees
- Partner with the Board Chair to develop meeting agendas, strategic priorities, and governance best practices.
- Support board member engagement in fundraising and community outreach efforts.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit governance standards, Foundation bylaws, and applicable state and federal regulations.
FINANCIAL & OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Provide executive oversight of the Foundation’s financial operations, including annual operating budget, endowment performance, and investment portfolio.
- Collaborate with financial advisors and auditors to ensure fiscal integrity, transparency, and compliance.
- Prepare and present financial and fundraising performance reports to College leadership, the Foundation Board, and the Board of Trustees.
- Maintain and strengthen policies and procedures related to Foundation operations and scholarship administration.
- Oversee effective use of donor database systems to support reporting, analytics, and donor communications.
SCHOLARSHIP STEWARDSHIP
- Oversee the comprehensive scholarship program including curriculum, workforce development, and emergency scholarship initiatives.
- Ensure donor intent is honored, and scholarship funds are awarded in accordance with established policies.
- Ensure scholarship reporting and invoicing is completed as required.
- Work with Marketing to communicate the impact of donor investments.
