Qualifications

Education
Must hold, at minimum, Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC-accredited program.
Applicants actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in a science or healthcare discipline may be considered if all other qualifications are met.
Experience
Minimum: A minimum of 2 years Respiratory Therapy clinical experience, management and supervision, in-service education, etc. in a hospital environment. Previous teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s degree in a health, education, or science-related discipline is preferred.
Experience: Previous didactic (teaching) experience and advanced clinical experiences (beyond 5 years).
Position Description

Summary
Under the supervision of the Department Chair of Allied Health Programs, the Respiratory Therapy Clinical Coordinator will plan and coordinate clinical components of the Respiratory Therapy Program. This position will collaborate with program clinical affiliates, clinical faculty, and students to enhance the Respiratory Therapy Programs and Johnston Community College as assigned by the Department Chair of Allied Health Programs and/or the Associate Vice President of Health Wellness and Human Services. This role is required to provide quality instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings as and assume responsibilities designed to enhance the Radiography Program and Johnston Community College.** This is a 9.5M position.**

Knowledge & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and learning resource components.
- Providing instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical situations depending on the needs of the program.
- Performs site visits and collaborates with all clinical agencies while providing supervision, orientation, and coordination of the part time clinical instructional faculty.
- Coordinates clinical schedules and ensures compliance with accreditation standards.
- Develop and maintain clinical affiliation agreements in collaboration with Department Chair and AVP of Health, Wellness, and Human Services.
- Manage the clinical calendar and site visits.
- Approves clinical clearance for faculty and students. Coordinates with facilities and vendors to resolve issues and update processes in coordination with Department Chair and AVP of Health, Wellness, and Human Services. Provides guidance and support to students in clinical placements.
- Serves as a liaison between clinical sites, faculty, and students.
- Will assist in and lead simulation labs, facilitate, provide instruction and offering guidance to enhance and ensure hands-on learning student learning experiences.
- Collaborates with the Department Chair in all aspects of the Respiratory Therapy Program to include program evaluation and assessment and maintaining accreditation standards for the nursing education programs.
- Teaches courses in the Respiratory Therapy programs curriculum as deemed necessary.
- Evaluates student learning and student learning outcomes.
- Participates in development, evaluation, and implementation of departmental policies and the annual departmental plan.
- Recruits and fosters retention of students.
- Maintains current knowledge of the nursing profession and education methodologies.
- Serves on various College and professional committees.
- Stays abreast of initiatives that are progressive, timely, and in step with demographic/technological/legislative changes impacting the program.
- Maintains hours in accordance with the College workload policy.
- Participates in student advising as needed.
- Attends Faculty and Respiratory Therapy Programs Advisory Committee meetings.
- Provides quality care for patients involved in selected learning experiences within the guidelines of the Respiratory Therapy Code of Ethics and accreditation and licensing boards.
- Contributes to effective relationships between the College and affiliating health service agencies.
- Complies with all requirements of the health service agencies to include immunizations.
- Participates in Department and College graduation ceremonies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Chair of Allied Health Programs and/or the Associate Vice President of Health Wellness & Human Services.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervision of students and clinical faculty is required.
