Minimum Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Industrial Systems Technology, or related degree.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the Industry working with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, PLC’s automation, robotics or a related field within a industrial or manufacturing setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- College-level teaching experience.
- Experience with Moodle, Canvas, or other learning management systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success.
- Strong communication, organization, leadership, planning, and interpersonal skills.

Position Description
Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) invites applications for a program coordinator in Mechatronics Engineering and Industrial Systems Technology. Full-time faculty support student learning through high-quality instruction, academic advising, curriculum development, and active participation in departmental and institutional initiatives. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, hybrid, or online courses depending on program needs.
Key Responsibilities Program Coordination & Management (Stipend)
- Provide leadership for the Mechatronics Engineering and Industrial Systems Technology program, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and workforce needs.
- Coordinate curriculum development, program review, assessment activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate program documentation, including syllabi, course outlines, equipment inventories, and accreditation materials.
- Recruit, orient, and support adjunct faculty teaching within the program.
- Convene and lead the Program Advisory Committee, ensuring meaningful industry engagement and documentation of recommendations.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to support internships, work-based learning, and employment pipelines.
- Monitor program enrollment, retention, and completion data; implement strategies to support student success and program growth.
- Coordinate program scheduling, textbook selection, equipment needs, and instructional resources in collaboration with the Dean of Academic Affairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, licensure requirements, and accreditation standards relevant to the program.
Teaching & Instructional Duties (70%)
- Teach assigned courses in Mechatronics Engineering and Industrial Systems Technology in alignment with departmental outcomes, accreditation standards, and institutional policies.
- Develop and deliver engaging instruction using current teaching methodologies and appropriate learning technologies.
- Provide students with clear instructions for all assignments and return graded work with meaningful feedback within one week of the due date.
- Maintain accurate attendance records in Self-Service and certify attendance by required institutional deadlines.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date grade records in Moodle throughout the semester.
- Promote a learning environment that respects diverse learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and educational goals.
- Report student conduct issues that impede instruction following proper institutional protocol.
- Drop students in accordance with the College’s attendance policy, including online-specific expectations for activity and participation.
- Post the course syllabus in Moodle and provide printed copies for in-person students.
- Use only the College-issued email account for all communication with students and employees, responding within 24–48 hours.
- Submit final grades and required documentation by institutional deadlines; incomplete grades require prior approval from the Dean of Academic Affairs.
- Remain on site for the full duration of each scheduled class meeting (for in-person classes).
- Attend all scheduled class sessions and notify the supervisor of any absence; arrange appropriate instructional coverage and submit required Class-Makeup documentation when applicable.
- Contact the Director of Distance Learning for Moodle-related technical support.
- Uphold confidentiality of all student information in compliance with FERPA.
Academic Advising (15%)
- Serve as an academic advisor for students enrolled in Mechatronics Engineering and Industrial Systems Technology.
- Assist students with course selection, academic planning, and progression toward credential completion.
- Maintain accurate advising notes and documentation in accordance with institutional procedures.
- Provide proactive outreach to advisees regarding academic performance, registration deadlines, and support resources.
- Participate in advising training and maintain current knowledge of program requirements, transfer pathways, and institutional policies.
College Service & Committee Work (10%)
- Serve on departmental, divisional, or institutional committees as assigned.
- Participate in curriculum development, program review, and assessment activities.
- Contribute to recruitment, retention, and community engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support accreditation, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Attend faculty meetings, convocations, graduation, and other required institutional events.
Professional Development & Institutional Engagement (5%)
- Participate in required orientation, training, and ongoing professional development activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of teaching strategies, industry standards, and emerging trends in Mechatronics Engineering and Industrial Systems Technology.
- Engage in reflective practice to support continuous improvement in teaching and advising.
- Support the College’s mission, values, and strategic priorities through active engagement in institutional initiatives.
