Minimum Qualifications
· A minimum of:
o An Associate’s degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Technology from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education, CFC Certification, heating contractor group 3 licensure, and eight (8) or more years of full-time equivalent work experience in the HVAC-R field, or
o Documentation of significant and extensive experience or contributions to the discipline demonstrated through: CFC Certification, heating contractor group 3 licensure, 12 or more years of full-time work experience, technical and performance competency, records of publications, or other qualifying credentials.
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
· Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, databases and presentation software applications
· Prior experience teaching or training co-workers, apprentices or junior colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
· A Bachelor’s degree in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Technology, or related technical field
· CFC Certification
· Prior experience teaching within a high school, community college or online environment
· Prior experience developing course material for high school students, adult learners, and senior populations
· Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
· Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments

The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Technology Instructor/Program Lead is a full-time, 12-month instructional staff position located primarily at the Tyson Family Center for Technology in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Director of Applied Technical Programs, the HVAC-R Technology Instructor/Program Lead assumes primary responsibility for curriculum development and management, Instruction and assessment of the college’s HVAC-R program of study within the Applied Technical Programs Department. This Instructor position provides quality learning opportunities in order to support South Piedmont Community College students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations by completing a diploma, certificate or degree in HVAC-R Technology.
Administrative duties of the Program Lead position are considered additional duties beyond those of curriculum faculty. Licenses and/or certifications used for credentialing purposes must be kept current by the employee, unless otherwise noted.

Job Duties |
· Create a learning environment that meets the needs of all learners
· Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to student learning through dedication to delivery of instruction and services, and to student learning outcomes
· Master South Piedmont Community College instructional materials
· Enhance South Piedmont Community College instructional material by contributing additional print and/or video content, or by designing engaging classroom activities
· Facilitate learning through classroom activities, distance learning experiences, workforce development, and out-of-classroom activities
· Select and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency
· Acts as chief advocate for the program and presents a positive image of the program and the college to both internal and external customers
· Leads the recruitment effort for the program and assures that promotional literature is current, accurate, and available
· Assures that all faculty members in the program are assisting with student advising and providing current, accurate information
· Maintains and updates all master course syllabi specific to the program
· Maintains and updates all master course documentation specific to the program
· Maintains and updates all master class schedules specific to the program
· Manages annual audit and update of all Canvas master shells
· Creates and submits semester class schedules as directed by the Department Chair/Director/Dean
· Coordinates the selection of textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency
· Demonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered college
· Develop strong partnerships with appropriate community stakeholders in support of program and college improvement
· Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
· Stay current with developments in the field of technology and learning theory
· Stay current with developments in the discipline by earning additional industry-recognized credentials as assigned by the supervisor
· Adopt a personal practice of learning teaching strategies and managing a learning-centered environment,
· Actively participate in continuous Program improvement through the assessment of learning outcomes at the course and program levels
· Support learner recruitment activities such as open houses, tours, virtual information sessions, etc.
· Reflect the College’s mission, vision, values, and core skills in all interactions with students, colleagues and community members
· Ensure accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
· Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following campuses: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus or Tyson Family Center (both in Monroe), in high school and community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a correctional setting (Anson County)
· Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online
· Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President
