Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, OR a Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the related field.
  • Some experience in teaching or training, including online instruction
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Solid understanding of computer hardware and software and willingness to continue learning and applying new technologies in the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MySQLOracle, or other database management systems.
  • Familiarity with IT support tasks, such as hardware troubleshootingsoftware installation, and basic networking.
  • Experience or interest in using cloud technologies and exploring new IT trends.
  • Familiarity with using learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) and other online tools for teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and collaborate with colleagues in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Position Description

Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching & Curriculum Development:
  • Develop and teach courses in PC support, troubleshooting, and IT services that align with the goals of the Computer Information Technology (CIT) program.
  • Deliver curriculum in a variety of formats (in-person, online, hybrid) and keep content current and relevant to industry trends.
  • Prepare and submit syllabi, course outlines, and assessments in compliance with department and division guidelines.
  • Create a dynamic learning environment that encourages engagement, critical thinking, and retention.
  • Revise and innovate course materials and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance the learning experience.

 

2. Instructional Technology & Innovation:
  • Incorporate modern instructional technologies into the classroom, utilizing learning management systems like Blackboard and other digital tools to support student learning.
  • Provide students with online learning resources, study guides, and other digital materials to reinforce classroom instruction.
  • Integrate multimedia, virtual labs, and simulations into teaching to improve hands-on learning experiences.
3. Student Support & Evaluation:
  • Evaluate and assess student progress using fair, consistent, and timely methods aligned with course objectives.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Offer academic advising and mentoring to students, helping them meet their educational and career goals.
  • Foster a supportive environment that encourages students to ask questions, participate in discussions, and access additional resources when needed.
4. Professional Development & Community Engagement:
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain at the forefront of technological advances in the field.
  • Attend and participate in conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay informed on the latest trends in IT.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the program by participating in curriculum reviews, assessment activities, and strategic planning.
  • Actively engage with industry partners to create internship opportunities and ensure curriculum alignment with workforce needs.
5. Contribution to College Mission & Culture:
  • Participate in faculty meetings, college-wide events, and professional committees.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintain a positive and professional presence both inside and outside the classroom, supporting the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Promote and contribute to the growth of student organizations, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
