Position Description

Davidson-Davie Community College is looking for an IT professional to fill the role of Information Technology Systems Technician. The primary duties of the technician are to ensure the college’s desktop hardware and software are operating optimally and securely. 

This position is responsible for but not limited to: 
Classroom equipment administration and configuration 
Faculty and staff equipment administration and configuration 
Daily administration of applications in support of classroom and business operations 
Administering on premise as well as cloud based systems 
Maintaining vendor relationships to complete projects 

The technician should have a clear understanding of Windows operating systems and the setup and configuration of required software. The ideal candidate will understand how to configure, monitor and maintain devices and peripheral connectivity. The technician must understand and adhere to industry standard security procedures at all times. 

The technician will see projects to completion through collaboration with co-workers, consultants, and support contracts. The technician should be able to communicate with users with various levels of knowledge. 

The technician will be responsible for a number of buildings and on a daily basis perform tasks to support campus operations in those buildings. 

The following tasks are performed on a typical day: 

Respond to help desk tickets and calls 
Troubleshoot computer connectivity 
      Wired /Wireless /Virtual private network (VPN) 
Review systems for improvements 
Monitor support system alerts and mitigate issues 
Update or create process documentation 
Gather quotes for new projects 
Perform activities to support desktop security initiatives 
Deploy new computers and classroom technology 
Pursue new knowledge through training, system deployment and personal interest
Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings
Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

Your attributes:
Required
3 years experience in an information technology support role
Experience supporting various desktop and end user software
Associate degree in technology related discipline 
 
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in technology related discipline 
3+ years experience in an information technology support role
Current industry recognized technology certification
