Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Systems, Social Sciences, Education, or related field that included course work in research design, statistics, or data analysis – OR – Associate’s degree in Statistics, Computer Systems, Social Sciences, Education, or related field that included course work in research design, statistics, or data analysis with at a minimum of two years of experience in institutional research or institutional effectiveness.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Expertise in data collection methods, data analysis, data integrity, and report preparation.
- Proficient at preparing written, oral and graphical reports and presentations targeted for selected audiences about complex projects, data analyses, and use of results for continuous improvement.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including leadership and the ability to foster effective, ongoing working relationships by building trust and respect with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and abilities.
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and the use of statistical analysis tools such as SAS, SPSS, SQL, or other statistical software.
- Experience querying the Colleague/Informer database systems for data retrieval.
- Experience with data reporting and/or visualization tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Three or more years of directly related experience, such as acquiring and analyzing data and producing information to support decision making and project planning, in a college environment.
- Experience working in a higher education institutional research or institutional effectiveness office.

Job Description |
The Institutional Research Analyst is a full-time 12-month position located in the service area of South Piedmont Community College. Under the direction of the Director of Data Analytics and Reporting, the Institutional Research Analyst provides research, analysis, and data interpretation to inform evidence-based decisions at the college. This individual also provides data for standard semester and annual reports as well as local, state, and federal reporting.
