Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

An Associate’s degree from an accredited college and/or a graduate of a North Carolina Certified Apprenticeship Program in leu of an Associate’s degree.

Three years of experience performing any combination of inventory and or maintenance duties.

 
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license with two (2) years of driving experience and no more than one (1) minor accident or violation in the past two (2) years.
 

Preferred Qualifications

Forklift certification
NCCER ICTP Certification
NCCER Proctor Certification

Position Description

Essential Duties—Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Order, receive, and maintain inventory of needed electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and other construction skills-related tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Assist instructional staff with laboratory setup and preparation needed to conduct classroom demonstrations.
  • Assist the Dean of Corporate and Industry Training by ensuring a safe, secure, and well-maintained facility.
  • Provide general information, instruction, and assistance to students and instructors on equipment operation, use and proper storage of materials, safety procedures concerning laboratory practices, and course related procedures.
  • Maintain internal inventory control of tools, equipment, and supplies and follow established guidelines for proper and safe storage.
  • Supervise and participate in the general maintenance of laboratory setup; perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment; coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair with facilities staff and/or outside vendors.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, lead, and review the work of staff involved in the maintenance and upkeep of all tools, equipment, supplies, and labs as directed by the Dean of Corporate and Industry Training.
  • Provide technical/functional training for assigned staff and monitor usage to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and meetings related to assigned area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with Property Control as it pertains to new equipment, tagging equipment, and surplus of equipment.
  • Represent laboratory and program activities to public schools, outside agencies, and corporations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
