Minimum Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related engineering discipline 

Two years of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or Mechanical Design environment

Computer skills using basic functions of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences:

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related engineering discipline 

One year of instructional/teaching experience at the post-secondary level

Blackboard experience

Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo

Position Description

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner

*Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

*Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour

*Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment

*Grades and returns student work in a timely manner

*Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course

Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
 
Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction 

Maintains regular office hours

Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching 

Serves on college or department committees when needed 

Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate

Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text, and constructing a syllabus 

Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology 

Attends professional development opportunities

Participates in graduation exercises 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning 

Be innovative, creative, motivated 

Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others 

Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently 

Good organizational skills 

Solid understanding of engineering and design principles
