A minimum of 40 hours a week as determined by the supervisor to allow the employee to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, including occasional evening and weekend hours. This is a 9-month position.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree (or Higher) in industrial systems engineering or a like field/or in Electrical Systems or Computer Integrated Machining.
Work Experience:
Three years of experience in industrial or manufacturing operations, maintenance, safety, or continuous improvement. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Position Description

Do Great Things! Durham Tech is hiring a full-time Instructor, Machining & Industrial Systems for the Industrial Systems Technology Program. This position provides classroom, laboratory, and workforce training instruction in industrial systems, manufacturing, electrical systems, PLCs, machining, and maintenance. The instructor is responsible for delivering engaging instruction, developing course materials, maintaining student records, supporting industry training initiatives, collaborating with business partners, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment that promotes student success and workforce readiness.

Examples of Duties

- Offer instruction in areas of AC/DC Electricity, PLCs, Instrumentation, motor and controls, hydraulics/pneumatics, and other manufacturing areas to include safety, maintenance principles, CNC and manual machining.
- Meet with classes for assigned hours and deliver relevant instruction in lecture and lab settings while maintaining accurate student records.
- Collaborate with Directors to determine training needs and participate in developing and delivering training that meets those needs.
- Participate in the development, analysis, and implementation of varying methods of course development and maintain records of student attendance and grades according to college and state policy and procedure.
- Provide instruction for customized training for business and industry, and training support to other workforce programs as available.
- Communicate course expectations to students in a consistent and understandable manner, e.g., by developing course outlines and syllabi.
- Assist Directors & Deans in communicating with Manufacturing industry partners around offerings at the college and their engagement with the college.
- Assist in maintaining safe and orderly instructional spaces as needed, including manufacturing lab equipment. This includes training conducted at Durham Technical Community College and employer sites.
