Minimum Qualifications

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sonography or an Associate’s degree in Sonography and a Bachelor’s degree in a health, science or education related field from an institutionally accredited college/university
Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential
Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential

Experience Required

Three years’ experience in Medical Sonography clinical practice.
Teaching and/or industry training experience in medical sonography topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars

Preferred Qualifications

Education Preferred

Master’s degree from an institutionally accredited college/university
Additional specialty credentials, i.e., abdomen and/or OB/GYN

Experience Preferred

Greater than three years of experience in Sonography clinical practice.
Post secondary teaching experience in Medical Sonography.
Experience as an instructor in a JRCDMS-accredited Sonography program.
Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.

Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.

Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach all levels of courses within the Medical Sonography curriculum as needed.
