Minimum Qualifications
(Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Associate’s degree in Nursing;
2. Two years of full-time or 4000 hours clinical work experience as an RN;
3. At least one of the following: completion of a course in teaching adults; experience in teaching adults; or experience in supervising nurse aides;
4. Unrestricted RN License to practice in NC, approval by DHHS to teach Nurse Aide, current CPR certification for the professional rescuer, obtain CPR Instructor Certification to teach CPR classes, and willing to obtain additional certifications to teach health related courses.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor Degree in Nursing Education or have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
2. Experience teaching at a community college.
3. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Job Description Summary |
The Nurse Aide Instructor will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction in the Nurse Aide I program according to the curriculum set forth by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR). The instructor will ensure students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to pass the state competency evaluation and provide safe, competent care as Nurse Aide I professionals.

Duties |
1. Maintains mastery of subject matter by planning and delivering classroom, lab, and clinical instruction for the Nurse Aide I program.
2. Ensure compliance with the North Carolina Nurse Aide I curriculum as outlined by DHSR. Ensure adherence to DHSR regulations, including maintaining program approval status. 3. Instructs student on the significance of accuracy, sanitation efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate attendance and grade records. 4. Teaches in various formats, various locations, and via various delivery methods. Utilize various teaching methods (lecture, hands-on demonstrations, simulations) to engage students effectively. 5. Adheres to policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline. 6. Adheres to clinical sites’ policies, procedures, expectations, and practices. Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners. 7. Communicates clearly with students, other faculty, and staff. Provide feedback, mentorship, and support to students to help them succeed academically and professionally. 8. Contributes to a safe and secure campus environment. 9. Instructs classes at various locations and times as scheduled and/or needed. Evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, skills check-offs, and clinical evaluations. Supervise students during clinical rotations in long-term care or other approved healthcare settings. 10. Ensure students adhere to safety, ethical, and legal standards during clinical practice. 11. Serve as a liaison between the college and clinical site personnel to ensure a positive learning environment. 12. Enforces Code of Classroom Conduct and Code of Student Conduct. 13. Maintain accurate program records in compliance with college and state requirements. Assists with state audits and approvals, program reviews, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate. 14. Assist with program planning, evaluation, and updates to align with state standards and healthcare industry needs. 15. Attends meetings and events and actively participates in committees and taskforces. Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and other required events. 16. Upholds the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement. 17. Supports diversity in all aspects. 18. Maintains continued competency as required by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and Department of Health and Human Services. 19. Completes continuing education as required by the college. 20.
