  • Successful completion of VMware (VCA-VCP) and CCNA courses
  • Valid and current VCA/VCP/CCNA certifications or equivalent certifications
  • One-year teaching experience

Position Description

Data Center Lead/Instructor, Technology Academy will develop and teach courses in multiple technology areas including virtualization and Cisco.  The Data Center Lead / Instructor will develop new course offerings in multiple technology areas.  The Data Center Lead / Instructor will be expected to provide additional support in the management of Academy online courses. The Data Center Lead / Instructor will manage the comprehensive operation and maintenance of the data center supporting ASC/ITC Cisco Academy, IT Academy, and Curriculum Courses. The Data Center Lead / Instructor will maintain records concerning network usage/capacity, make replacement/upgrade recommendations, and participate in the budget planning process. The Data Center Lead / Instructor will coordinate and support other networking applications associated with the data center as needed to promote seamless operation and security.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitate the installation and maintenance of data center operations, security, and equipment needed to support ASC/ITC Cisco Academy and IT Academy.
  • Provide Monthly updates concerning data center usage and capacity.
  • Maintain an up-to-date replacement/upgrade schedule of all significant data center components for budgeting purposes.
  • Create and maintain data center documentation needed for efficient functioning.
  • Teach program material via seated and online classes as required by the schedule.
  • Learn new material to keep up with changing technology.
  • Facilitate regular and substantive interaction via proactive communication with students.
  • Participate in recruiting new students.
  • Ensure classrooms, data centers, labs, and lab equipment are in good repair and maintain a safe environment for students and employees.
  • Serve as a mentor to students in your area of expertise.

Classroom Instruction

  • Teach all assigned courses, a range of 12 – 15 contact hours per semester, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
  • Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, incorporates appropriate content and pedagogy, and is relevant to current events/trends.
  • As needed, teach classes online, on-campus, and/or at off-campus sites.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback.
  • Maintain regular, appropriate, professional communication with students.
  • Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning.
  • Ensure cleanliness of instructional areas and laboratories.
  • Ensure the proper operation of classroom/lab equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate person(s).
  • Participate in the evaluation and acquisition of instructional materials, audiovisual aids, support and equipment needs.

 Other Services to Students

  • Maintain appropriate accessibility for students, including a minimum of five office hours a week.
  • Serve as an educational mentor to assign students by providing academic and employment planning.
  • Maintain regular, appropriate, professional communication with students.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention efforts of the College.
  • Advocate and provide motivation for students.
  • Communicate student’s needs to Program Head, Department Head, or Dean.

 Divisional Administrative Expectations

  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner meeting all deadlines, and checking for accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data.
  • Remain current in discipline and instructional methods through professional development activities offered by the College and other opportunities including attendance at off-campus activities, webinars, etc., as approved.
  • Participate in annual planning, program, and curriculum review.
  • Serve on and actively contribute to college committees as assigned.
  • Participate in campus activities.
  • Participate in discipline, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and other announced co-curricular activities of the College.
  • Maintain regular, professional communication within the college and affiliated industry contacts.
  • Maintain posted office and on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations and meet the needs of the discipline, department, division, and College.
  • Support all functions of the College, including compliance with all facets of the College’s policies.

 

Other Duties Specific to this Position

  • Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in laboratory and/or clinical settings to meet program needs.
  • Develop courses and syllabi for and instruct courses in the Academy area.
  • Create, administer, grade, and maintain records for exams, projects, activities, and reports for evaluation of students in each course.
  • Participate in the revision process as needed for the course(s) or curricula in the field or related areas.
  • Participate in professional organizations, attend conferences and workshops as appropriate, and maintain professional contacts with instructors in similar instructional areas on other campuses.
  • Participate in all delivery formats of courses as part of his/her normal full-time load.
  • Work productively as a team with colleagues.
  • Learn new software packages to keep up with technological changes.
  • Effectively teach and instruct students with a wide range of technical skills in traditional and online classes.
  • Be available to facilitate lab sessions for multiple classes.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
