Minimum Qualifications
Requirements:
Diploma in Welding, Metal Working, Metal Fabrication or related field in addition to appropriately related work experiences in the field such as a minimum of two years of industry welding experience, a combination of welding and related instructional experience, or professional licensure and certifications related to the teaching assignment.
OR
Associate’s degree in Welding or related field and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline with at least one year of experience in the Welding industry or at least one year of combined welding and related instructional experience required.
Must be able topass Wake Tech’s Welding qualification process.
Computer skills using basic functions of MS Word, PowerPoint ,Excel ,and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
Preferences:
Associate’s degree in Welding
AWSD1.1, ASMEIX, or API1104 Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ)
AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification (CWI)
Five or more years of industry welding experience or at least five years of combined welding and related instructional experience required
Position Description
Wake Technical Community College is seeking a passionate and experienced Welding Faculty member to join our dynamic team. As a leader in skilled trades education, we are committed to creating a program that is industry-aligned. This position is responsible for teaching assigned classes and laboratories in day and/or evening according to course requirements, mentoring students in our state-of-the-art welding labs, contributing to curriculum development, and fostering an environment where students gain hands-on expertise, confidence, and the skills needed for long-term success in the field.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selects text, and constructs a syllabus.
Designs curriculum, schedule of instruction, and constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course.
Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate.
Uses assessment techniques to improve student learning outcomes and teaching methods.
Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom and attends professional development opportunities.
Stays current with trends in welding technology, certifications, and workforce needs.
Supports recruitment efforts and engages with industry partners to maintain program relevance and creates opportunities for student internships, apprenticeships, and job placement.
Participates in graduation exercises and serves on college or department committees as needed.
