Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:    

Under general supervision, the Lead Youth Career Navigator will provide case management and career counseling to Youth WIOA program participants while also supporting staff development and program consistency across counties. This role includes training new staff, providing guidance to team members, and assisting in the coordination of service delivery to ensure quality outcomes. Provide support and assistance in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:                                                                                                                                         

  • Provide individualized assessment of work, family and personal development needs and opportunities for Youth
  • Create application in the NCWorks system for customers who have provided all required documents
  • Scan all documents into NCWorks to ensure all documents for determining eligibility are correctly uploaded
  • Determine customer eligibility, provide program orientation, complete objective assessment and individualized employment plan
  • Build professional one-on-one working relationships with participants to assist in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment
  • Provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies when needed
  • Encourage individuals to participate in and follow through with planned activities as outlined in contract with funding agency
  • Oversee participant activities and assist with workshop schedules
  • Maintain organized database of customers and keep detailed documentation of all contacts and participant files as specified by contractor
  • Provide consistent and comprehensive case management follow-up and retention services, including required post-placement contacts
  • Document all participant contacts and activities in case progress notes within NCWorks Online
  • Ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract
  • Work with the team on implementing processes that increase participant engagement
  • Serve as staff in the NCWorks Career Center and cross-train to achieve Integrated Service Delivery goals
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training to new Youth Career Navigators in both counties
  • Coordinate and implement workshops and group activities, and support scheduling of assessments (including CASAS) to ensure participant progress and engagement
  • Provide guidance to staff on complex participant cases and assist with coordination of outreach and service delivery across counties
