Minimum Qualifications

Required education and experience:

·       Master of Social Work (MSW) degree

·       Full Clinical Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

·       Experience in social work, public health, or mental health

·       Ability to form collaborative relationships with area mental health providers and social support services

·       Ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff

·       Ability to maintain confidentiality

·       Proficient in documentation and case management in accordance with legal and ethical standards

·       Demonstrates the college’s core value of helpfulness

 

Preferred education and experience:]

Position Description

Job Position:

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will provide comprehensive support to address life challenges and barriers students face that impact mental health, social, academic and physical needs. They will provide mental health counseling services, serve as a liaison connecting students to necessary support resources required to aid in achieving program completion. They will work with students to navigate administrative processes, refer students to appropriate college and community resources, advocate for student needs, and implement student success strategies. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will report to the Director of Counseling and Accessibility Services.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide mental health counseling and support services to enrolled students of Sandhills Community College.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable about local and regional resources for mental health assessment, intervention and treatment.
  • Identify areas of support needed for students.
  • Develop support plans to promote student success.
  • Assist with all areas of the Student Support Center.
  • Collaborate with Director of Counseling and Accessibility Services to create workshops and group therapy sessions for enrolled SCC students.
  • Partner with community organizations to better meet the needs of our students.
  • Assist with the publication of all student support services materials, including information in the college catalog, student handbook, information sheets, and website.
  • Research, refer, and advocate for community resources to assist and improve student well-being and retention.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of support strategies implemented.
  • Maintain case files and records.
  • Attend professional development and other training pertinent to job responsibilities.
