Preferred Qualifications
At least three years general maintenance/carpentry experience preferred.
Position Description
Under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator, performs unskilled and semi-skilled trades work in the maintenance and repair of campus buildings, grounds, and facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trade skills. Knowledge of safety regulations and precautions in the workplace. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to detect by inspection broken or worn parts. Ability to plan and organize work and set priorities. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
Essential Duties:
Repairs and maintains plumbing fixtures and other related plumbing repair activities. Performs general carpentry and associated woodworking duties. Assists with the installation of dry wall, doors and door frames, and replacing broken windows. Paints a variety of surfaces within the facility. Arranges rooms and moves furniture to set up for meetings or for changes in room arrangements. Performs small engine and motor repairs including replacement of various parts such as belts, motors, bearings, and replacing burned out motors. Performs minor repairs to grounds and maintenance equipment. Completes work orders and makes other records as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
