Minimum Qualifications
Experience
Experience in textiles and experience with operating sewing equipment preferred.
Training/Education:
Equivalent to a Two Year Associate degree from an accredited college
Knowledge of:
- Cut and sew process and sewing equipment.
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Computer programs such as Word and Excel.
- Strong communication skills, working with internal and external customers.
Ability To:
- Operate cut/sew equipment, or be trained to operate equipment.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations as needed.
- Assist with training on cut/sew equipment and other equipment located within Fabric Formation area.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate new service delivery methods and techniques.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Work with entrepreneurs and businesses to create product which uses cut/sew equipment.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Maintain cut & sew equipment in the MSC Fabric Formation area.

Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives administrative direction from the MSC Director
Operates sewing equipment on MSC “Best Practices” Sewing Line. Communicates with equipment suppliers to assess new equipment and makes recommendations on future MSC equipment purchases.
Works with Fabric Formation Manager on knitting projects.
Executes cut sew process for Santoni produced fabric.
Provides support to Hosiery Knitting area with machine operation and boarding assistance as appropriate.
Works with entrepreneurs and existing businesses to help develop their products and then source products to US manufacturers, including involvement in prototyping and sampling.
Works with yarn and knitting companies to help trouble-shoot problems and on efficiency projects.
Works with MSC staff to handle invoicing for projects.Assists with workforce training related to cut/sew process.
Assists with providing customized support to clients related to cut/sew process. Potential to create training materials to help with workforce training.
Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
Continuously upgrades knowledge and skills of new types of knitting equipment and the computer software required to run this equipment.
Assists with maintenance of sewing equipment as directed by Fabric Formation Manager.
Orders parts, tools, yarn, and repairs for the sewing equipment.
Assists with visits from schools and other interested parties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Indoor working environment; working with machinery; periodically working irregular hours; exposure to textile dyes and chemicals.
