Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree with a major in Networking, Information Systems, Cyber Security or Computer Science with a minimum of two years of network-related experience OR a bachelor’s degree in a Networking-related program.
  • Candidate must be professional and able to demonstrate innovation and initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Proficiency in general networking principles such as subnetting, VLANs, DNSDHCP, switching, and routing protocols.
  • Experience with layer one troubleshooting.
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining networking layer 2 and 3 equipment.
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining cloud-based LAN and wireless infrastructure.
  • The familiarity of virtual environments, including compute and storage resources.
  • Knowledge and the ability to adapt to different compliance requirements such as PCIDSSFERPA, and HIPAA.
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining Palo Alto firewalls. 
  • Knowledge of security principles related to access control lists, system hardening, network hardening, secure authentication methods, certificates, and intrusion prevention.
  • Familiarity with VOIP technologies.  Cisco experience preferred. 
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to document thoroughly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with different stakeholders.

Position Description

The Network and Security Administrator will be responsible for the installation, documentation, troubleshooting, data security, and management of network infrastructure, including but not limited to firewalls, routers, and switches.  The Administrator will also implement, maintain, and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks of various designations, including LANs, WANs, and remote site-to-site connectivity.  The person will also perform day-to-day administration of wired and wireless network infrastructure and connectivity across campuses and remote sites.

This is a 12-month position within the Information Technology Division reporting to the Director of Endpoint Services and ERP.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and administer the deployment of network-based hardware, software, services, and projects.
Perform the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of network-related servers and network infrastructure.  Responsible for the security of all WCC endpoints, including but not limited to network devices, servers, Microsoft 365 environment, AWS environment, firewalls, and remote network management software.
Ensure network and supporting technologies are backed up, that a disaster recovery plan is functional and tested, and maintain a business continuity plan for network systems.
Ensure that WCC meets the requirements stated in the NCIIPS security standards manual.
Serve as the primary liaison to the security operations center (SOC).
Inform the IT team of new technologies and serve as an expert resource in the subject area of networking and security technologies.
Maintain knowledge of computers and computer repair to assist college personnel with problems associated with college computer hardware and software, ensuring compatibility with the college network and security requirements.
Monitor, document, and close help desk tickets to resolve network issues reported by users.
Administer the KnowBe4 security training platform and maintain required training documentation.
Maintain accurate and organized records to comply with audits and the Vice President of Information Technology and Operations/CIO needs.
Serve as an ambassador for the Information Technology department to all divisions of the college.
Deliver positive, high-quality internal and external customer service and team interactions.
Maintain adequate communications with the Director of Endpoint Services and ERP and inform them of any problems or issues relating to assigned duties.
Attend professional development and conferences as necessary to remain current and as determined by the Director of Endpoint Services and ERP.
Other related duties as required by the supervisor.
