Associate degree (AA or AAS) in Networking Technology required. Industry-recognized networking certification (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA) preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in networking technology required. Teaching experience in adult education preferred.

Position Description
The Networking Technology Instructor, under the authority and direction of the Dean of Adult Education and in cooperation with the Scotland Correctional Institution’s educational department, is responsible for providing effective instruction in the Networking Technology program at Scotland Correctional Institution. This position includes curriculum development, instructional planning, and delivery of coursework that prepares students for entry-level industry certifications. Instruction will be tailored to support basic and beginning-level learners and will progress to more advanced topics as appropriate.
The instructor will teach networking technology courses designed to introduce students to networking applications including the OSI model, network topologies, IP addressing, subnet masks, routing theory, switching terminology, router configuration, and switch configuration. Topics also include WAN technologies and network design theory.
- Provides effective instruction in networking technology, with emphasis on foundational skills and progression toward entry-level certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCST).
- Develops and updates curriculum and instructional materials to meet current industry standards and student needs.
- Makes recommendations for course offerings and instructional improvements based on student performance and industry trends.
- Designs instruction to support basic, beginning-level learners and scaffolds learning toward more advanced competencies.
- Securely manages classroom and networking lab operations, including class-specific software and hardware.
- Prepares course materials and utilizes approved texts and resources.
- Assists in the evaluation and implementation of approved program curriculum and instructional processes.
- Provides adequate supervision and classroom management in compliance with RichmondCC and Department of Adult Corrections policies.
- Maintains a current course outline.
- Administers proficiency examinations and certification exams, ensuring adherence to standardized testing procedures.
- Maintains and submits accurate records and documentation in a timely manner.
- Abides by all directives set forth in the formal agreement between Richmond Community College and Scotland Correctional Institution.
- Keeps college administration informed of all matters related to the program.
- Accepts other duties as assigned.
Ability to effectively teach incarcerated individuals. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in current Microsoft Operating Systems and Office Products. Commitment to the open-door philosophy of community colleges and student-centered learning. Skills in critical analysis, problem-solving, and independent decision-making. Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of correctional education.
