Position Description

DEFINITION:
As a member of the Student Services team, the New Student Navigator provides personalized guidance and support to prospective students throughout the enrollment process. The New Student Navigator assists students from the point of application through admissions steps, program selection, financial resources, and campus services. This role ensures students have the necessary support to successfully transition into the college. The Navigator serves as a primary point of contact for an assigned caseload of students and walk-ins, offering a one-stop approach to onboarding and student success.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Lead New Student Navigator.
- May provide direction to student employees.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Provide individualized support to prospective students, assisting them with the enrollment process, including application, transcripts, residency, placement, program selection, financial resources, and orientation.
- Serve as a point of contact for assigned students, ensuring they receive personalized assistance and resources to navigate college services.
- Provide follow-up and follow-through when necessary for prospective students and college departments.
- Respond to electronic and phone inquiries regarding admissions, enrollment steps, short-term training, academic programs, and student services.
- Utilize strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills along with a wide knowledge base of student services and college resources.
- Maintain student records and track communication with assigned inquiries and applicants.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to streamline onboarding processes and enhance student support.
- Create and maintain a robust communication plan for applicants and admitted students across multiple channels using the college’s customer relationship management software.
- Assist students in connecting with campus resources such as career services, counseling, student life, academic advising, and tutoring.
- Work with the Community Relations Office to create and maintain new student materials.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and delivering orientation sessions and other enrollment-related events.
- Support efforts to improve the onboarding experience and retention of new students.
Other Important Functions:
- Assist in the promotion, planning, and coordination of activities and events sponsored by Student Service.
- Participate in student success initiatives and retention strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college programs, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in developing materials and resources to aid students in their transition to college.
- As needed, assist with outreach events, including college fairs.
- Participate in the enforcement of the Rights and Privacy Act.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Enrollment management and student onboarding best practices.
- College admissions, financial aid, and academic programs.
- Student recruitment, inquiry management, and relationship-based marketing.
- Human relations and personnel practices.
- Microsoft Office & Google Suite, CRM’s, and student information systems (preferably Colleague).
- Successful customer service practices.
- Virtual meeting and outreach platforms.
Ability To:
- Perform related work as required.
- Work well both independently and as part of a team with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Some travel is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle if a school vehicle is not available. Driving record must be free of any moving violations.
- Ability to travel between campuses on short notice.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
