Position Description
The Purpose
Responsible for creating an environment in classroom, lab, and clinical settings that facilitates learning and the
achievement of desired cognitive, affective and psychomotor outcomes. Facilitate learner development and socialization of values and behaviors expected of those who fulfill the role of a nurse aide. Formulates program outcomes and designs curricula that reflects contemporary healthcare trends. Prepares nurse aide graduates to function effectively in the health care environment. Engage and support high school students to pursue healthcare careers. This load may include seated, hybrid, and online classes with day and evening course assignments which may include courses at any campus location or at any area high school. Knowledgeable about the educational environment within nursing practice and recognize how political, institutional, social, and economic forces impact their role and forms the cornerstone for their participation in advisory committee meetings to address health care and educational needs locally, regionally and state-wide.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Teach Nurse Aide I and Nurse Aide II level procedures and skills. Facilitate other pre-professional pathway courses as assigned. Primary teaching location will be at the Henderson County Public Schools Innovative High School located on Blue Ridge’s Flat Rock Campus. Maybe asked to teach at other campus locations, may have day, evening and weekend classes.
- Teach courses as assigned, advise students concerning course requirements, maintain course records, and assist with course scheduling.
- May assist in training and updating other faculty.
- Utilize a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in the classroom, lab and clinical settings as well as all domains of learning.
- May assist in updating, maintaining, and distributing course outlines and materials for assigned courses. Maintains accurate and appropriate records for the course. At the end of the semester turns in to the Dean (for review) the following: an electronic copy of the course; attendance sheet, grade sheet, a copy of each test with item analysis report; copy of the clinical rotation schedule; copy of evaluation of part time clinical faculty and recommendations for change for the course before it is offered again.
- Assists in the maintenance of program approval, total program evaluation and program accreditation. Participates in recruitment and marketing activities for the program and College.
- Participates in the selection of qualified candidates for the program.
- May assist in coordinating clinical sites and course offerings as required for assigned curriculum.
- May assist in reviewing textbooks and software.
- Update, maintain and distribute course outlines and materials for Allied Health courses.
- Evaluate and assist in the selection of supplies and equipment
- All employees are responsible to ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal regulations.
Additionally
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function.
- Facilitates communication between students and instructors within the course leading to early problem resolution and mutual understanding.
Qualifications
Education
AAS in a related field required, Bachelors or higher in related field preferred.
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years experience as an RN (4,000 hours). Completed a course in teaching adults (or) experience teaching adults (or) has supervised nurse aides. All applicants must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment.
Additional Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) currently registered in North Carolina or multi-state licensure with an active unencumbered license.

Physical Demands
The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
