NURSE AIDE I TRAINING PROGRAM – INSTRUCTOR:
- Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Nursing
- The applicant is a registered nurse with an unencumbered license.
- The applicant is licensed to practice in North Carolina.
- The applicant has at least two (2) years (4000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States.

- Has at least one (1) year (2000 hours) of home care/home health experience.

- Meets at least one (1) of the following:
a)completion of a course in teaching adults; or
b)experience in teaching adults; or
c)experience in supervising nurse aides.

Valid CPR certification
Maintain current unencumbered Nursing License with the NCBON (North Carolina Board of Nursing)

Teaching faculty at Alamance Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. Under general supervision, this individual will assist in the development, prepare, and teach nurse aide and related courses within the department as well as participate in the organization, administration, continuous review, planning development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in a health careers training program. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the role of the nursing assistant in the health industry. Full Time faculty will also be responsible for advising and recruiting students and collaborating with business and industry partners to provide necessary training and education
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Conducts instructional activities, including lectures, labs, etc.; prepares visual aids for class lectures, including presentations, handouts, and simulations.
- Researches, plans and performs educational activities; plans, administers, and grades student evaluation instruments; calculates student’s final grades; prepares, administers, and evaluates Credit by Exam; contacts and secures speakers for classes as needed.
- Advises students in their academic and professional plans; supervises students in lab activities; assists students with job placement; recognizes and recommends students who need tutorial assistance; recommends students for awards and honors.
- Maintains professional knowledge of assigned instructional area; acquires additional education credentials; attends Seminars and workshops.
- Establishes course objectives; updates course plans, outlines, and teaching materials for existing courses; develops course plans, outlines and teaching materials for new courses; evaluates and recommends texts for course adoption and meets with publisher representatives.
- Maintains and reports accurate student attendance and scholastic records; documents and intervenes in student discipline problems; documents ADA needs and resulting accommodations; tracks students with scholastic inadequacies; communicates with student services office about student problems.

- Orders and purchases supplies for class activities.
- Solicits donations; contacts donors, picks up, and moves donations.
- Prepares or completes various forms, schedules, reports, correspondence, or other documents; assists in the preparation of the college catalog.
- Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, manuals; reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains a·s appropriate.
- Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, or other software programs; installs and troubleshoots computer hardware and software; transports and operates audio-visual equipment.
- Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Substitutes in class for absent colleagues.
- Tutors students outside class.
