Minimum Qualifications

 

 

  • Current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina, or licensure in another state with eligibility to obtain North Carolina licensure.
  • Minimum of two calendar years of full-time clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Associate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution or nursing program recognized by the appropriate accrediting/regulatory body.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to use technology systems required for documentation, communication, and student support.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and the ability to provide constructive feedback.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and coaching information.
  • Skill in documentation, follow-up, organization, and timely communication with students, faculty, and program leadership.
  • Solution-oriented approach to student support, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

 

 

Language Skills 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required. 

Mathematical Skills 

  • Ability to perform basic math computations including adding, subtracting, multiplying and averaging all units of measure. 
  • Ability to compute fractions, percentages and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability 

  • Ability to use effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Computer Skills 

Ability to demonstrate proficiency or, within a timely manner, be able to achieve proficiency in a Windows environment.  Knowledge of email systems, Microsoft Office Applications, Blackboard, Aviso (Watermark) Retention, and other PC/web-based and simulation tools. 

 

Equipment

Computer, telephone, printer/copier/scanner, email, Microsoft Office applications, learning management systems, and standard office technology.

Physical Demands 

 

  • Regularly performs work at a computer workstation and uses standard office and academic support technology.
  • Regularly communicates and exchanges accurate information in person, by telephone, through virtual platforms, and in writing.
  • Occasionally moves about offices, classrooms, laboratories, campus locations, and meeting spaces.
  • Work may require periods of computer use, student meetings, data review, and participation in group coaching or learning support sessions.
  • Occasionally requires lifting (10-15 pounds), repetitious finger and wrist movement, and reaching both high and low.
  • Travel is an expected part of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Post-secondary teaching, tutoring, coaching, remediation, or student success experience, preferably in a pre-licensure nursing program.
  • Experience with evaluation of learning outcomes, patient safety initiatives, clinical-based education, simulation-based learning support, or standardized exam preparation.
  • Experience using learning management, retention, assessment, or student success platforms.
