Position Description

The Part-time Administrative Support Staff position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Learning Commons.  The position reports to the Director, Learning Commons and has the following responsibilities:

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide customer service at the Learning Commons Welcome Desk by assessing the needs of students, faculty, and staff
  • Provide students with requested information, thoroughly explain the information, and make referrals within the Learning Commons or College as appropriate
  • Provide administrative support for the Learning Commons
  • Answer and appropriately direct incoming calls, and return voicemail and email in a timely manner
  • Assist in scheduling and checking in students for testing appointments
  • Maintain confidentiality and security by following FERPA regulations, carefully monitoring student records while at the Welcome Desk, and properly storing all student records
  • Assist in maintaining a quality learning and testing environment following policies and procedures
  • Assist with data entry and reports as needed
  • Provide general computer assistance to students such as helping students print and navigating College website and platforms
  • Troubleshoot, document, and communicate technical difficulties related to services
  • Appropriately communicate academic integrity violations and behavioral issues to the Director, Learning Commons
  • Maintain open, robust, and timely communication with colleagues and supervisor
  • Maintain currency of knowledge related to Learning Commons’ services
  • Participate in professional development to enhance skills in meeting the needs of students
  • Promote College mission, vision, and values
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the College mission and initiatives

 

Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of one year customer service

  • Administrative support experience at a community college
  • Experience working with college students in a flexible setting
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Strong computer skills and commitment to using technologyDemonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Openness and willingness to engage in professional development activities
  • Ability to be self-directed as well as work effectively and collaboratively with others in a team environment
