Position Description

This part-time faculty member’s primary efforts focus on teaching and learning, academic excellence, and student success. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing learning strategies for students in the Dental Assisting Program. This position reports directly to the Program Director, Dental Assisting. Davidson-Davie Community College faculty members have the following responsibilities, including, but not limited to: 

  • Promote the college’s mission, vision, and values
  • Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to, day, evening, weekend, and online
  • Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
  • Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needs
  • Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
  • Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning 
  • Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs
  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
  • Attend appropriate internal and external meetings
  • Assist in student recruitment and retention
  • Maintain accessibility to students, faculty, and staff

 

Successful candidates will possess:

Required Qualifications: 

  • 3 years of experience as a chairside dental assistant 
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a closely related field
  • Diploma in Dental Assisting
  • Certified Dental Assistant – CDA
  • Healthcare Provider-level CPR certification

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Teaching experience in a community college or related work experience

Experience using a Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content
