Position Description

Davidson-Davie Community College is seeking to fill part-time Cabinet and Wood Technology Instructor positions to teach Woodworking Skills courses. This position reports directly to a Coordinator or Director in the Business and Workforce Training Division. Job requirements include but may not be limited to:

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Promotes College mission, values, and vision
  • Designing and implementing learning strategies for students
  • Teaches assigned courses to meet program needs including, but not limited to, day, evening and weekend.
  • Develops course syllabi and provides appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
  • Uses and promotes appropriate technology to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Plan projects for hands on experience
  • Carries out a program of self-evaluation to determine instructional effectiveness
  • Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
  • Maintain Equipment and ensure proper storage and security of supplies
  • Monitoring of shop environment including heating, cooling, ventilating and lighting
  • Determines need for supplies; ensure proper storage
  • Maintains cleanliness of class/grounds/lab area
  • Assists in the evaluation of courses and programs
  • Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • 2 years working experience in cabinetry, woodworking, or related field.
  • Strong Knowledge of shop safety and OSHA standards or willing to take OSHA training
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven evidence of leadership ability, supervisory experience and commitment to teamwork
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others in a team environment
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Associate in Applied Science Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior teaching experience in a classroom/lab setting
  • Proven experience in mentoring
  • Prior teaching experience in a community college
