Part-Time Temporary Sign Language Interpreter

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, proficient communication skills necessary for interpreting within a post-secondary educational environment, licensure in one (or more) of the following credential areas required: Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf; National Association for the Deaf; and/or North Carolina Interpreter Classification System.

Supplemental Information
Official transcripts, including other documentation verifying all reported educational qualifications, are required. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted for application purposes. The successful candidate must provide official transcripts at his or her expense within thirty (30) days of being notified of selection.

Description
Facilitate communication between College personnel and hearing-impaired students in order to support reasonable accommodations for successful student engagement within a post-secondary educational environment.

Specific duties and responsibilities include providing classroom and on-call interpreting/ transliterating services to identified students; reviewing and preparing course materials to support classroom interpreting; and substituting for other interpreters on an as-needed basis.

Salary: $55.00 per hour
