ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: |
Van Driver: Transport Upward Bound students to and from James Sprunt Community College in the safest manner possible. Do not allow any pssengers to travel other than Upward Bound students, or staff when applicable. Make sure all students are wearing seat belts at all times when Vans are in operation. Make sure all studenst arrive on campus and are picked up by the specified time. Students are not allowed to be dropped to addresses not given to the Upward Bound Office. No loud music or loud talking on the vans. Van drivers are not allowed to wait more than five minutes for any student to board the vans.
Tutor: Ability to assist students with learning course material for one of the following subjects: Math, English, Science, and history. Also desire tutors who are able to tutor in all subject areas and in specific college-level courses (For example: Psychology, Anatomy, and Physiology). TRIO Instructor: Upward Bound Instructional staff members must have North Carolina Teacher Certification, in their respective areas of concentration. Instructors must be able to teach a wide range of subjects in their area (i.e. Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, etc.). Instructors are expected to have content knowledge of their area. They must be willing to share specific knowledge of the subject matter with the students on levels that they can comprehend. They are expected to serve as mentors and role models, perform role play, instruct, and interact socially with economically disadvantaged high school students, and work intensively with small groups, when necessary. REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or higher. |
