Minimum Qualifications

1. Current unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in the state of North Carolina.
2. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and actively enrolled in a Master’s in Nursing degree program.
3. Minimum two years of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
4. Membership in one or more professional organizations.
5. Must obtain Master’s degree within 5 years of employment.
6. Must have education in teaching and learning principals in adult education as required by the NCBON (36.0318, #5) within the first 3 years of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from an accredited institution.
2. Previous teaching experience.

Position Description

As a member of the team under the direction of the Nursing Department Head (Nursing Director), the instructor is responsible for planning, selection, organization, supervision, facilitation, and evaluation of the learning experiences of students in the practical nursing (PN) program.

Essential Responsibilities/ Duties
The Instructor participates in the development, implementation, instruction, and evaluation of the PN nursing program; and is involved in college related activities. Responsible to the Nursing Department Head (Nursing Director).

1. Participate effectively in team teaching in the classroom and lab.
2. Assume responsibility for PN program leadership.
3. Assist with the development of program and course documents and evaluation tools.
4. Select and implement appropriate theoretical and clinical student learning experiences.
5. Maintain student records and document student progress towards meeting clinical outcomes.
6. Assist with the evaluation and revision of course content and structure.
7. Review and select textbooks and learning resources.
8. Collaborate with simulation coordinator to maintain lab supplies and materials.
9. Will be responsible for advertisement, admissions, and registration of potential and current students.
10. Advise current students regarding academic progress.
11. Accompany and supervise students in clinical rotations.
12. Evaluate student clinical progress.
13. Assist with the development of student clinical schedules.
14. Develop and post student clinical assignments.
15. Facilitate student interaction and participation in pre- and post-conferences in clinical experiences.
16. Foster effective relationships in clinical agencies and with other college faculty, staff and administration.
17. Display a commitment to the philosophy and objectives of the college and nursing program.
18. Foster a commitment to quality nursing education and patient/client care.
19. Pursue personal and professional growth.
20. Remain current with nursing literature, including evidence-based practice.
21. Demonstrate leadership skills in group activities.
22. Plan and participate in nursing team meetings.
23. Lead and record PN faculty meeting minutes and post in shared folder.
24. Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the PN program.
25. Participate in college committees.
26. Perform other duties as assigned.
