Minimum Qualifications

Required:
- Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting, Medical Office Administration, or a related Health Sciences field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Current medical assisting credential in good standing from an organization whose certification exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), or International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
- Education, training, or experience in medical or allied health field.
- Experience working in the medical assisting profession and/or medical office administration.
- Knowledge of and experience with Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) Core Curriculum competencies relevant to assigned teaching responsibilities.
- Preparation in instructional methodology (e.g., coursework, training, or teaching experience).
- Qualifications that meet all applicable accreditation requirements for assigned teaching areas.

Position Description
- Stipend: Program Coordinator receives an additional $150 per month.
The Program Coordinator leads and manages all aspects of the Medical Assisting and Medical Office Administration programs, including administration, faculty coordination, student support, curriculum development, and continuous program improvement. This role ensures academic quality, compliance, and alignment with program outcomes.
In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Program Coordinator serves as a full-time instructor, delivering engaging, student-centered instruction that promotes critical thinking and lifelong learning. Responsibilities include assessing student progress, utilizing diverse teaching methods and technologies, and supporting student success.
The Program Coordinator also serves as the Medical Assisting Practicum Coordinator, overseeing the practicum experience, including site selection and approval, student placement, orientation of students and site supervisors, and ongoing evaluation of student performance. The role maintains relationships with clinical partners and supports recruitment, retention, and overall program growth.
The Program Coordinator receives supervision from the Department Chair, Allied Health.

Examples of Duties

Program Coordination and Administration:
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the Medical Assisting and Medical Office Administration programs.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise curriculum, policies, and procedures for admission, progression, and graduation.
- Prepare and manage the annual program budget; monitor expenditures and resource needs.
- Develop course schedules and recommend faculty assignments.
- Coordinate and supervise program faculty, including participation in hiring, mentoring, and evaluation.
- Ensure compliance with college, state, and accreditation standards.
- Monitor program effectiveness through data review (e.g., student outcomes, graduate follow-up) and implement improvements.
- Maintain program resources, including equipment, instructional materials, and facilities.
- Support student recruitment, advising, retention, and job placement efforts.
- Maintain relationship with advisory committees, clinical partners, and community stakeholders.
- Represent the program and college on committees and in the community.
- Participate in planning, budgeting, and institutional initiatives.
Practicum Coordination:
- Coordinate all aspects of the Medial Assisting practicum experience.
- Select, approve, and maintain practicum sites.
- Place and orient students and site supervisors.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance and progression during practicum experiences.
- Ensure compliance with program requirements and documentation standards.
Instruction and Student Support:
- Teach assigned courses in classroom, lab, and/or clinical settings.
- Develop and deliver instructional materials that support diverse learning styles and promote student engagement.
- Assess and document student learning outcomes and progress.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and performance.
- Advise students on academic progress, course selection, and career pathways.
- Maintain office hours and provide timely feedback and support to students.
Professional and Institutional Engagement:
- Maintain current knowledge in the field and instructional best practices.
- Participate in professional development, including continuing education and industry engagement.
- Serve on college committees and participate in institutional events and activities.
- Contribute to program and college planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.
Additional Responsibilities:
