Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
- Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret, and present data in visually appealing and easy-to-understand formats (e.g., dashboards, charts, or infographics).
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to question, investigate, and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a relevant field.
- Experience in institutional research, data analytics, or higher education, particularly within a community college setting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, statistical softwares (e.g., SPSS, SAS or R) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, or Entrinsik Informer 5).
- Familiarity with higher education databases and tools, especially Ellucian Colleague and Entrinsik Informer (4 or 5).
- Knowledge of state and federal reporting requirements (e.g., IPEDS, NCCCS) and experience ensuring compliance with such standards.

Position Description
The Research & Institutional Effectiveness (R&IE) Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the College’s mission through data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement efforts. This position is responsible for analyzing and interpreting institutional data, creating reports and dashboards, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements. In collaboration with the Director of Research & Institutional Effectiveness, as well as various faculty and staff at the College, the R&IE Analyst supports outcomes assessment, program review and strategic planning initiatives, providing actionable insights that drive institutional effectiveness. This role supports internal and external reporting, data visualization, and strategic initiatives, ensuring that stakeholders have access to accurate, timely, and actionable data.
This position may require day, evening, or weekend work, as well as occasional travel between College locations and to state/national conferences.
Example of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Build queries; retrieve, clean, and analyze data from specialized databases and information systems including the National Student Clearinghouse, Ellucian Colleague, and Entrinsik Informer.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and confidentiality in compliance with institutional policies and federal/state regulations.
- Utilize statistical tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, SAS) to perform descriptive and inferential analyses and interpret results.
- Identify opportunities for improving data collection, reporting, and analytics processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop reports and dashboards using Ellucian Colleague and Entrinsik Informer to provide timely, accurate, and relevant data to support institutional decision-making and external reporting requirements.
- Assist with management of local, state, and federal reporting obligations, including IPEDS and NCCCS data submissions.
- Support accreditation activities (e.g. SACSCOC), program reviews, and grant applications by providing data and analysis.
- Present findings using clear visualizations (e.g., dashboards, charts, graphs).
- Work collaboratively with faculty and staff throughout outcomes assessment and program review processes, providing data and assistance with managing assessment cycles.
- Provide training and support to faculty/staff on using data tools, dashboards and analytics best practices.
- Translate complex data into easy-to-understand reports for diverse stakeholders and communicate technical and statistical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Support strategic planning initiatives by providing data-driven insights and metrics for evaluating progress and outcomes.
- Assist with designing survey instruments, administering surveys, and analyzing survey results to support institutional assessment and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate in the development and monitoring of continuous improvement plans for the Office of Research and Institutional Effectiveness, including establishing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for the office.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of office documentation, including an institutional data dictionary and standard operating procedures for recurring reports and processes.
- Ensure documentation is up-to-date, accessible, and reflective of current practices to promote consistency and efficiency.
