Minimum Qualifications

An Associate’s degree or higher in a computer-related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Candidates must demonstrate a history of progressive mastery in game and simulation development, along with specific experience in Maya animation and rigging. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as is proficiency in using information technology and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders. A valid North Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include at least two years of instructional experience and a proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Experience with any of the following technologies is highly desirable: Moodle, Maya, ZBrush, Adobe Creative Cloud, Unreal Engine, Unity 3D, Substance Painter, HoloLens, Oculus, motion capture systems, and the C# programming language. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Position Description

The instructor is responsible for teaching a broad range of game and simulation courses, which may include on-campus and off-campus classes during the day, evening, weekend, and online. This position will include course development where applicable, designing and implementing learning strategies for students, timely submission of reports, proactively staying current in information technologies, selecting hands-on technologies appropriate for research and student learning, and maintaining instructional records. The instructor responds to emails and participates in voice and video calls in a timely manner. Additionally, the instructor supports the college’s mission, vision, and core values by adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and faculty expectations. Other duties may be assigned as needed. This position requires the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling and could involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 20 pounds) and occasionally heavier weight (up to 50 pounds).
