Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in education, human services, or related field from a regionally accredited institution required.
Preferred Qualifications
Two to three years of experience working with students in a post-secondary educational environment is preferred.
Position Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Advising and Student Support, assists new students with enrollment processes, onboarding, and connection to support resources that promote student success. This position also provides support for recruitment events for internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- NCCCS policies and procedures related to admissions and placement practices
- College policies and procedures
- Curriculum program requirements
- Best practices for educational counseling and advising
- Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively (written and verbal) in a variety of settings, with people from diverse backgrounds, educational levels, and age groups.
- Operate a PC, mobile devices, and related software. Use Microsoft Office (word processing, database, presentation, spreadsheets) and relevant applications or internet-based platforms.
- Synthesize information and demonstrate analytical skills in reaching sound conclusions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, administrators, coworkers, and the public.
- Prioritize and complete projects and tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engages in onboarding of new students to address students’ academic, professional, personal, and career goals.
- Introduces and connects students to support services and resources that promote student success.
- Assists with advising and registration for special credit students.
- Represents the college at recruitment events, both on and off campus.
- Provides backup support for campus tours for students, secondary education partners, and external groups.
- Participates in relevant professional development opportunities.
- Serves on institutional committees as appointed.
