Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Management required; Master’s degree preferred; CPA preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in business operations or financial administration, preferably within higher education or the public sector.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial management, and continuous quality improvement.
- Strong working knowledge of North Carolina Community College System policies, laws, and regulations preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proven ability to interpret and apply federal and state laws governing financial and administrative operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, build effective teams, and foster collaboration across departments.
- Commitment to transparency, ethical stewardship, and customer service

The Vice President of Finance/Auxiliary Services (VP) position is responsible for all financial functions of the College, ensuring the institution’s financial integrity, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability. The VP of Finance/Auxiliary Services supports the SVP/CFO by helping provide strategic leadership for budgeting, business policies and procedures, payroll, accounting and auditing, cashiering, capital management, purchasing, and auxiliary enterprises.

Essential Responsibilities
-
The VP of Finance/Auxiliary Services provides vision, leadership, and management for all financial services and ensures operational excellence through continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership & Advisement
- Serve as an advisor to the SVP/CFO on financial, administrative, and operational matters.
- Actively participate as a member of the President’s Cabinet and collaborate on institutional planning and policy development.
- Financial Oversight & Compliance

- Direct and manage the College’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, auditing, payroll, purchasing, and cashiering.
- Prepare annual budgets and financial reports for the President, Board of Trustees, and state and federal agencies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and institutional financial policies, laws, and regulations.
- Oversee expenditures and financial transactions, maintaining transparency and fiscal responsibility.
- Approve all contracts for services and purchase requests according to established procedures.

- Administrative & Operational Management

- Supervise the Executive Director of Financial Services and other professional and clerical personnel.
- Develop, review, and implement business and financial policies and procedures that promote operational efficiency and accountability.
- Approve contracts, purchase requests, and other financial commitments in accordance with established procedures. • Capital Planning
- Assist the SVP/CFO with capital improvement planning and development.
- Assist the SVP/CFO oversee project design, bid specifications, contractor negotiations, and construction management.
- Assist the SVP/CFO coordinate with legal counsel on matters involving liability, contracts, and risk management.
- Auxiliary & Support Services

- Provide oversight for auxiliary enterprises, including the College Online Store, vending, and food services.
- Manage contracted services, including security, janitorial, and maintenance.
- Continuous Improvement & Institutional Support

- Promote a culture of continuous process improvement and institutional effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SVP/CFO to support the mission and goals of the College.
