The North Carolina Community College System (System Office) is a statewide network of 58 public community colleges. The system enrolls over 500,000 students annually. It is the 3rd largest in the nation based on the number of colleges. It also provides data to the North Carolina Learning Object Repository by collecting, contributing, and sharing digital learning resources for use in traditional or distance learning environments. The Vice President of Transformation and Innovation leads the development of a Strategic Vision and Plan designed to lead Transformation and Innovation for the Community College System.  This position plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing strategies that drive innovation, improve efficiency, and ensure long-term growth.

This position is responsible for identifying areas needing change, developing transformation plans, and overseeing their implementation, collaborating closely with other senior leaders, the State Board and key stakeholders. 

Aligned with the Strategic Plan, the VPTI manages a portfolio of projects and staff that are intended to drive innovation and deliver high-leverage strategies for improving outcomes for community college students in North Carolina, including but not limited to those that are part of the NC Student Success Center. Part of this work includes working in partnership with agency leadership (VPs, AVPs, and Directors) and external partners to develop, identify and pursue opportunities and external funding that help move the System’s strategic priorities forward and improve outcomes for North Carolinians. Third, the VPTI leads the development of the System Office Operational plan to ensure that resources are aligned with the goals set forth within the Strategic Vision for Transformation and Innovation. This position also collaborates closely with the Chief of Staff and VP of HR to ensure that the Operational plan and employee assignments align with the System Strategic goals.  In addition, this position monitors and tracks the progress and milestones established within the Strategic Plan. This position works closely with the VP of System Effectiveness to track progress on strategic priorities, identify effective strategies for supporting students through to completion of valuable postsecondary credentials, and adding to our knowledge base about strategies to improve student success.
