VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Site Tax Preparer, Single Stop

The VITA Site Tax Preparer will be able to perform all the major components of income tax preparation: Document Review and Intake Interview with the taxpayer; return preparation; quality review; Exit Interview with the taxpayer; and insuring that the final tax package is complete.  Tax Preparers will be familiar will all Storm Campus Connections resources and refer taxpayers to these resources when their interaction with the taxpayer during the return preparation process and/or the tax return results indicate that these additional resources might be of benefit to the taxpayer. The VITA Site Tax Preparer reports to the Coordinator, Storm Campus Connections.

Essential Job Functions:

• Completes IRS training and certification as outlined in Training Section
• Certify at the Advanced level and as IRS Site Coordinators
• Conducts Intake Interviews
• Prepares high quality tax returns that correctly apply tax law and ensure that all allowable credits are claimed.
• Ensures that the IRS Quality Review Process is followed
• Makes referrals for other community resources
• Collaboratively work with the VITA Tax Coordinator to provide tax services to Davidson-Davie Community College students and the community

• Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings
• Performs other duties appropriate to the position and as assigned by the VITA Site Tax Coordinator, Single Stop

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Associate’s Degree in a related field
• Two years of previous experience preparing tax returns
